July 12 City Council Wrap-Up

July 14, 2022 at 11:32 am

Meeting highlights from the June 28 City Council meeting include:

  • Approving an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the City of Castle Pines and Douglas County related to the City's future disc golf course. This IGA provides $300,000 in funding from Douglas County toward the construction of the course.
  • Hearing a presentation from representatives of the Douglas County Open Space Initiative regarding a 20-year extension of the existing .017% Douglas County Sales and Use Tax for Open Space, Parks, and Trails. The City of Castle Pines is anticipated to receive municipal shareback funds if voters pass an extension. These funds would be available for use on projects in the City's parks and open space. The City does not currently receive the municipal shareback under the existing tax as the City was not incorporated when the tax was previously passed. The current tax is set to sunset in 2023 unless extended by a vote of the electorate. The Douglas County Commissioners will decide if this item should be included on the November ballot.
