Here you will find more information and resources about how to stay healthy and support friends, neighbors, loved ones and your community.

Douglas County Mental Health Initiative
Supported by the Douglas County Commissioners, in response to several tragic mental health-related incidents, the Douglas County Mental Health Initiative has worked to unite community partners to address unmet mental health needs, connect people to mental health services and prevent those in need from falling through the cracks of the mental health system.

Community Assessment Program at The Juvenile Assessment Center
The Community Assessment Program provides FREE assessments for school-aged youth and their families to determine the most appropriate resources, and help connect you to accessible and supportive services in your community. Appointments are scheduled at your convenience, with locations in Centennial and Aurora, serving families living in Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties.
The Way Center Offers Teen Small-Group Therapy
The Way Center will be offering teen small group therapy starting in July. This group will teach teens to understand, process and cope with their emotions, by building skills in: distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. For teenagers suffering from general or social anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or substance abuse, this group will create a safe and supportive space for them to feel respected, understood and empowered to process and regulate their emotions.
Douglas County Healthy Youth Coalition
The Douglas County Healthy Youth Coalition puts the health and well-being of Douglas County youth first through advocacy, education, and community partnerships.
- Sustain and build capacity in the community and among stakeholders to implement a shared risk and protective factors approach as a collaborative prevention system in Douglas County. Decrease youth use of substances including alcohol, marijuana, electronic vapor products, and prescription drugs by implementing evidence-based prevention strategies in the community setting.
- Advance Whole School, Community, Child (WSCC) approach, as well as other prevention programs / initiatives in the community that advance the health and well-being of our youth.
- Advancement of Restorative Practice principles across the Douglas County community
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – Arapahoe/Douglas Counties
The mission of NAMI Arapahoe/Douglas Counties is to provide education, support, and advocacy for people whose lives are impacted by mental illness. They help families and individuals with their mental health goals, including support and recovery. Support includes family and peer support groups.
NAMI Arapahoe/Douglas Counties works to achieve equitable services and treatment for more the individuals and loved ones who are impacted by mental health in our community.
Mental Health Colorado
Mental Health Colorado advocates for every Coloradan who experiences a mental health or substance use condition each year. They engage policymakers, providers, the public, and the press to promote mental wellness, ensure equitable access to mental health and substance use care, and end stigma and discrimination. Their efforts range from the Capitol to the classroom.
