Rocio Meli, a Castle Pines resident, was recently recognized as one of the seven finalists for the 2023 Colorado Teacher of the Year. She is a Spanish and English Language Development teacher at Castle Rock Middle School. She also teaches a specialized class, InnoV8, where students engage in the design-thinking process to give back to people in need.
In recognition of her accomplishments and service as a teacher for the Douglas County School District, Mayor Engerman has proclaimed Oct. 11 through Oct. 18 as Rocio Meli Week.
