New traffic pattern for Castle Pines Parkway begins Sunday, Sept. 18

September 14, 2022 at 1:27 pm

Crews will switch both lanes of traffic on Castle Pines Parkway from the current south side of the road to the newly poured north side of the road in the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 18, beginning at approximately 1 a.m. Flaggers will be present to help cars navigate the new pattern on both Sunday and Monday. Turns into the business district, south of Castle Pines Parkway, will remain accessible at the Lagae Road and Debbie Lane intersections (see map below for more information). The overall project remains on schedule with an anticipated completion time in November. The second phase of work is expected to take less time due to fewer utility conflicts on the south side of Castle Pines Parkway. Crews have already started locating utility lines so infrastructure can be moved by utility providers as quickly as possible.

Did you know, that this project is not just a concrete replacement project? The City is rebuilding the parkway infrastructure. This includes a new sub-base for the road, the establishment of a six-foot bike lane, additional turn lanes at Castle Pines Parkway and Lagae Road, and relocation of all the utilities located within the road, including electric, gas, and numerous telecommunications companies. The City is also fixing years-old drainage issues. All of this work takes coordination with numerous entities and can be a slow process. We want to assure the traveling public that we are aware of the impacts and inconvenience of this work. However, when this project is completed, the community will have a new road that will last for many decades. Future maintenance costs will be reduced by taking the time to do the project correctly. Drainage issues will be resolved that have been impacting the roadway for decades. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these important improvements to our roadway system.
