The Castle Pines City Council held a meeting on January 27. Meeting highlights include:
- Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Municipal Code to add a new Article 9 concerning massage facilities.
- Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Municipal Code to opt out of the firearm prohibitions of Senate Bill 24-131.
- Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Zoning Ordinance to disallow certain commercial uses, including pawnshops, junk yards, and vape shops, in the business district. The ordinance allows certain uses in the business district, including body art services, while allowing certain uses depending on location and distance from other similar uses, including car washes, payday loans, major vehicle services, and minor vehicle services. This applies only in the business district. The ordinance does not apply to previously approved planned developments that specifically allow the above uses.
- Approving the adoption of City Council policy documents, including City Council Guiding Principles, City Council Procedures and Rules of Order, and City Council and Boards/Commissions Protocols.
- A study session to discuss the 2025 community survey results.
- An update from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
- An update from the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce.
