National Drug Take Back Day

National Drug Take Back Day

💊 National Drug Take Back Day – April 25

National Drug Take Back Day is coming up on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—a safe, simple way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications. This year, the City of Castle Pines is partnering with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District to offer a new take back location right here in Castle Pines.

Drop-off locations:

  • Castle Pines Market Place Shopping Center Parking Lot (former Safeway site) – 558 East Castle Pines Parkway
  • Highlands Ranch Substation – 9250 Zotos Drive

Accepted items:

  • Prescription pills (please empty into plastic bags for anonymous disposal)
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Liquid products like cough syrup in original, tightly sealed containers
  • E-cigarettes without batteries

Items not accepted:

  • Thermometers
  • Needles or sharps
  • Medication/medical waste from businesses or clinics
  • Liquids or ointments not in original containers

Reminder: Remove all personal information from pill bottles or packaging before drop-off. All collected items will be safely destroyed.

Take a few minutes to clean out your medicine cabinet and safely dispose of medications you no longer need—help keep our community and environment safe!

Slash Collection Day

Gather any tree limbs, prunings, pine needles, or other yard debris and bring them for free disposal during the City's Slash Collection event.

All vegetation is allowed. Please limit the diameter of trunks or limbs to less than 16 inches. No lumber is allowed, and please ensure there is no metal (nails, screws, etc.) or rocks in the materials you drop off.

"Slash" is debris from nature, such as tree limbs, prunings, and pine needles. If not removed, slash can increase potential fire hazards on your property. Removing slash and creating defensible space around your home is the first line of defense against wildfires.
