Happy Canyon Interchange Pre-Construction Open House

Safety improvements are coming to the Happy Canyon Road and Interstate 25 (I-25) interchange in Castle Pines. The improvements, consistent with the City of Castle Pines Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan guidance, will improve traffic operations, connectivity, and regional mobility, as well as support local community growth. This project also aligns with the Board of Douglas County Commissioners’ Core Priority to provide a reliable multi-modal transportation network. This project is identified in the County’s 2040 Transportation Master Plan, and it’s one of the County’s priority projects as identified in the County’s current 5-Year Capital Improvement Program.

Join the project team for a public open house on Thursday, June 4, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Castle Pines Library Event Hall (360 Village Square Drive) to learn about upcoming construction. No formal presentation will take place. You are encouraged to come and go during the event as your schedule allows. During the open house, you’ll have a chance to:

  • Review information about the new interchange design
  • Learn about the project timeline and anticipated traffic impacts
  • Ask the project team questions

National Drug Take Back Day

💊 National Drug Take Back Day – April 25

National Drug Take Back Day is coming up on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—a safe, simple way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications. This year, the City of Castle Pines is partnering with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District to offer a new take back location right here in Castle Pines.

Drop-off locations:

  • Castle Pines Market Place Shopping Center Parking Lot (former Safeway site) – 558 East Castle Pines Parkway
  • Highlands Ranch Substation – 9250 Zotos Drive

Accepted items:

  • Prescription pills (please empty into plastic bags for anonymous disposal)
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Liquid products like cough syrup in original, tightly sealed containers
  • E-cigarettes without batteries

Items not accepted:

  • Thermometers
  • Needles or sharps
  • Medication/medical waste from businesses or clinics
  • Liquids or ointments not in original containers

Reminder: Remove all personal information from pill bottles or packaging before drop-off. All collected items will be safely destroyed.

Take a few minutes to clean out your medicine cabinet and safely dispose of medications you no longer need—help keep our community and environment safe!

If you're new to pickleball, start here. You'll learn the fundamentals in a relaxed, structured setting while building confidence and comfort on the court.

This group of sessions is for beginning-level players and will take place on the following days at the following times:

Thursday, June 11, 2026: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Thursday, June 18, 2026: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
