2026 Castle Pines Parkway Reconstruction
Project Overview
As a part of the 2026 Road Solutions projects, road reconstruction will begin on June 1 for the westbound lanes of Castle Pines Parkway. The project will include a complete reconstruction of the roadway. The Castle Pines North Metropolitan District will also replace the water line under the road and the related water infrastructure. This project marks a significant investment in Castle Pines’ infrastructure, enhancing safety, increasing mobility, and upgrading critical utilities.
July 15 Update: During its July 14 meeting, City Council approved additional work as part of the 2026 Castle Pines Parkway reconstruction project. Crews will now replace the concrete roadway between Forest Park Drive and the Buffalo Trail roundabout with asphalt after finding the existing concrete was more damaged than expected.
Schedule:
- Project Start: June 1, 2026
- Anticipated Project Completion: Fall 2026
- Crews completed and reopened the westbound section from Monarch Boulevard to Deer Clover Drive (including the stretch in front of Timber Trail Elementary) on August 11 to minimize impacts on school traffic.
- Construction on the remaining portion, west of the Deer Clover Drive intersection, will continue and is scheduled for completion this fall.
Project Status:
- Crews are finishing work to replace water valves south of the Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Boulevard intersection as part of the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District’s water infrastructure replacement project.
- Once that work is complete, crews will replace the remaining water line infrastructure in the southwest corner of the Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Boulevard intersection. Lanes in both directions will remain open, but drivers should expect temporary traffic shifts while work is underway.
- Next, crews will install new water line infrastructure between Deer Clover Drive and the Buffalo Trail roundabout. After that, the westbound lanes will be repaved with new asphalt.
- Once the westbound lanes are complete, crews will repave the remaining eastbound lanes between Forest Park Drive and the Buffalo Trail roundabout.
Project Improvements Include:
- Reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Castle Pines Parkway between Monarch Boulevard and Forest Park Drive.
- Initially, diamond grinding was planned from Forest Park Drive to Buffalo Trail to smooth the existing roadway and improve drivability. However, the damage to the concrete was much more significant than previously anticipated. Therefore, crews will remove the concrete and replace it with asphalt for both the eastbound and westbound lanes. The project is still expected to be completed on schedule by early fall.
- New water line and related infrastructure by the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District.
Detour Information and Construction Impacts:
- Traffic will be rerouted so that both westbound and eastbound traffic uses the eastbound traffic lanes on Castle Pines Parkway within the project's construction limits.
- During the initial phase of construction, crews will replace water line infrastructure in the Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Boulevard intersection. During this work, lane shifts will be required. However, turning movements in all directions will remain open. Please drive carefully, follow construction crews' directions, and pay attention to construction signage and cones. Lane shifts will change throughout this phase of the project.
