2025 Monarch Boulevard & Castle Pines Parkway Road Construction

Project Overview

As a part of the 2025 Road Solutions projects, improvement efforts began on June 2, 2025, along Monarch Boulevard and Castle Pines Parkway. These projects represent a significant investment in Castle Pines’ infrastructure, enhancing safety, increasing mobility, and upgrading critical utilities.

Monarch Boulevard

This project includes rehabilitation work from Buffalo Trail to Winter Berry Place and complete reconstruction from Berganot Trail to Buffalo Trail.

Schedule:

  • Phase One Reconstruction (from Berganot Trail to Hidden Pointe Boulevard) start: June 2, 2025
  • Phase One Reconstruction completion: August 12. 2025
  • Phase Two Reconstruction (from Hidden Pointe Boulevard to Buffalo Trail): Scheduled to begin August 12, 2025
  • Phase Two Reconstruction completion: Anticipated late September/early October 2025
  • Phase Three (roundabout construction at Buffalo Trail and Monarch Boulevard): Begins after Phase 2 is complete
    • Northbound and southbound traffic will be open on Monarch Boulevard during the Phase 3 roundabout construction.
  • Phase Three (roundabout construction at Buffalo Trail and Monarch Boulevard) completion: Anticipated October/November 2025

Project improvements include:

  • 2,400 feet of roadway improvements from Berganot Trail to Winter Berry Place
  • Safety enhancements
  • Stormwater infrastructure improvements
  • Six-foot bike lanes
  • 1,700 feet of new water line by the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District from Berganot Trail to Buffalo Trail
  • Temporary traffic light installation at Monarch Boulevard and Buffalo Trail intersection
  • During the June 24, 2025, the City Council approved the addition of a roundabout at the intersection of Buffalo Trail and Monarch Boulevard. This addition will be completed as part of the ongoing 2025 Monarch Boulevard reconstruction project.
    • View an aerial drawing of the roundabout.
    • Why a roundabout? A traffic study was conducted to examine both a signalized intersection and a roundabout. The intersection did not meet traffic signal warrants, but the analysis did justify a roundabout to improve the traffic flow and safety at the Buffalo Trail and Monarch Boulevard intersection.

Castle Pines Parkway Reconstruction

This project includes eastbound Castle Pines Parkway reconstruction from Forest Park Drive to Monarch Boulevard.

Schedule:

  • Project start: June 2, 2025
  • Roadway Opening: August 1, 2025
  • New Sidewalk Completion: End of August

Castle Pines Parkway reopened travel lanes in both directions on Friday, August 1. The remaining landscape installation and sidewalk construction are scheduled to be completed by the end of August. Temporary single-lane closures will occur while these final project steps are completed. However, traffic will remain open in both directions on Castle Pines Parkway.

Project improvements include:

  • 3,000 feet of full roadway reconstruction from Forest Park Drive to Monarch Boulevard
  • Safety enhancements
  • Stormwater infrastructure improvements
  • Six-foot sidewalks

Current Traffic Closures and Detours

Monarch Boulevard Phase 2 Detour Information:

  • Beginning August 12, Monarch Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from the north side of the Hidden Pointe Boulevard intersection to Buffalo Trail.
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained on Monarch Boulevard, south of the Hidden Pointe intersection, for local neighborhood traffic. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of construction crews and drivers. Detour routes will be clearly marked to minimize inconvenience.
  • Access to homes within the construction area will be maintained at all times from Monarch Boulevard, south of Hidden Pointe Boulevard. If local traffic is traveling from the north, they will use the detour via Buffalo Trail and Castle Pines Parkway and then access Hidden Pointe Boulevard via Monarch Boulevard from the south. This access will be limited to local traffic and emergency vehicles only.
