Leaf and Pumpkin Composting

Castle Pines residents are invited to recycle leaves and pumpkins for composting!

First have fun with your leaves- gather them in piles and jump in, use them for Halloween props, etc. - then bring them to be composted.

Pile them in bags and bring them to Elk Ridge Park's parking lot. (You'll dump the leaves out of the bags....no bags will be accepted at the event.)

Leaves are collected and used by local farms as a soil amendment and need to be as clean as possible. No garden waste, large brush, branches, or tree stumps are accepted as part of the leaf collection event (no commercial landscaping).

The event is free to Castle Pines residents!

Slash Collection Day

"Slash" is debris from nature, such as tree limbs, prunings, and pine needles. If not removed, slash can increase potential fire hazards on your property. Removing slash and creating defensible space around your home is the first line of defense against wildfires. To help you mitigate wildfire danger on your property, the City of Castle Pines is hosting a free slash collection event. Bring any tree limbs, prunings, pine needles, or other yard debris to Elk Ridge Park's parking lot for free disposal on Saturday, September 27 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. as a part of the City's slash collection event.

If not removed, slash can add to potential fire hazards on your property. Mitigating and preparing your property for wildfire is important. All vegetation is allowed, but please limit the diameter of trunks or limbs to less than 16 inches. No lumber is allowed, and please ensure there is no metal (nails, screws, etc.) or rocks in the materials you drop off.
