About the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment

The City of Castle Pines Planning Commission deliberates and makes recommendations to the City Council on land-use applications, proposed long-range policy planning documents, and zoning regulations. The Commission consists of seven residents from various backgrounds who are appointed by the City Council. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane in Castle Pines.

The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.

Happy Canyon Interchange Pre-Construction Open House

Safety improvements are coming to the Happy Canyon Road and Interstate 25 (I-25) interchange in Castle Pines. The improvements, consistent with the City of Castle Pines Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan guidance, will improve traffic operations, connectivity, and regional mobility, as well as support local community growth. This project also aligns with the Board of Douglas County Commissioners’ Core Priority to provide a reliable multi-modal transportation network. This project is identified in the County’s 2040 Transportation Master Plan, and it’s one of the County’s priority projects as identified in the County’s current 5-Year Capital Improvement Program.

Join the project team for a public open house on Thursday, June 4, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Castle Pines Library Event Hall (360 Village Square Lane) to learn about upcoming construction. No formal presentation will take place. You are encouraged to come and go during the event as your schedule allows. During the open house, you’ll have a chance to:

Review information about the new interchange design
Learn about the project timeline and anticipated traffic impacts
Ask the project team questions
