National Drug Take Back Day is coming up on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—a safe, simple way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications. This year, the City of Castle Pines is partnering with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District to offer a new take back location right here in Castle Pines.
Drop-off locations:
- Castle Pines Market Place Shopping Center Parking Lot (former Safeway site) – 560 East Castle Pines Parkway
- Highlands Ranch Substation – 9250 Zotos Drive
Accepted items:
- Prescription pills (please empty into plastic bags for anonymous disposal)
- Over-the-counter medications
- Liquid products like cough syrup in original, tightly sealed containers
- E-cigarettes without batteries
Items not accepted:
- Thermometers
- Needles or sharps
- Medication/medical waste from businesses or clinics
- Liquids or ointments not in original containers
Reminder: Remove all personal information from pill bottles or packaging before drop-off. All collected items will be safely destroyed.
