Castle Pines Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Life Time Athletic Country Club

September 3, 2025 at 2:24 pm

Members of the Castle Pines City Council and Planning Commission, along with representatives from Life Time and Swinerton Construction, gathered this morning to break ground on a new Life Time athletic country club coming to The Canyons neighborhood with a planned opening in late 2026.

The two-story, more than 102,000-square-foot Life Time club will be located east of I-25 near Castle Pines Parkway and Canyonside Boulevard. Once complete, the club is expected to employ more than 300 full-time and part-time team members. This marks the largest commercial development within the 2.1 million square feet commercial area zoned for future business use in The Canyons.

Designed to showcase Life Time’s full ecosystem of all things healthy living, healthy aging, and healthy entertainment, the new Life Time facility serving the Castle Pines community will feature:

  • Indoor and outdoor pickleball courts.
  • An outdoor pool and beach club with lap and leisure pools, waterslides, cabanas, and a poolside bistro.
  • A LifeSpa, Life Time’s full-service salon and spa.
  • A LifeCafe serving healthy smoothies, coffee, and meals-to-go.
  • The Life Time Kids Academy where kids can play, as well as a toddler area. Kids aged three months to 11 years can learn, play, and grow with engaging and enriching age-specific programming and classes.
  • Dedicated studios for yoga, cycling, Pilates, and barre, strength training areas, and cardio equipment

“Castle Pines residents will love the convenience of having world-class recreation programs and amenities right here in our own backyard,” said Castle Pines Council Member Geoff Blue. “Life Time’s arrival will bring more opportunities for fitness, fun, and connection in Castle Pines.”

Site preparation began earlier this year, with work ongoing throughout the summer. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with the club anticipated to open later in the year. Presale memberships will be offered prior to opening.

“Expanding our presence in Colorado is a key part of Life Time’s growth strategy, and we’re excited to bring our unique healthy way of life experience to Castle Pines,” said Laura Messerli, Life Time’s Vice President of Club Operations. “We’ve seen an incredible response from members at our newest clubs in Boulder and Denver West, and we look forward to delivering the same exceptional programming, amenities, and community connection here.”

Judge rules in favor of the City of Castle Pines in CP Commercial, LLC lawsuit

August 7, 2025 at 1:21 pm

On August 4, 2025 a district court judge in Douglas County sided with the City of Castle Pines in upholding the City Council’s denial of a McDonald’s drive-through restaurant in the Parkway Plaza development in the vicinity of the intersection of Lagae Road and Castle Pines Parkway. The property owner of the proposed McDonald’s site initiated a lawsuit in 2024, challenging the City’s decision to reject the McDonald’s proposal. The judge found that the City’s decision was based on competent evidence presented during the public hearing on the application.  It also ruled that the City Council did not misapply the law or abuse its discretion in denying McDonald’s application.
