We’re excited to share that the newly reconstructed westbound section of Castle Pines Parkway between Monarch Boulevard and Deer Clover Drive is now open to traffic, including the section in front of Timber Trail Elementary.

The reopening marks an important milestone in the 2026 Castle Pines Parkway reconstruction project. Crews have completed paving and striping on this portion of the roadway, providing a newly improved driving surface for residents, families, and visitors traveling through the area. The Castle Pines North Metropolitan District has also completed its waterline infrastructure replacement under this section of roadway.

Work will continue on the remaining section of Castle Pines Parkway, between Deer Clover Drive and Buffalo Trail, into early fall. At the Deer Clover Drive intersection, westbound traffic will shift back onto the existing eastbound lanes while crews complete this phase of construction.

Thank you to our community for your patience throughout construction. The entire project remains on schedule for completion by early fall.

The agenda for the August 4 City Council meeting is now available. The City Council will hold a study session to discuss 2027 budget priorities to inform the development of the 2027 budget. The study session will begin at 4:30 p.m.

• An update from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
• During the study session, the City Council discussed the draft Annexation Policy and is scheduled to consider its adoption at the August 11 meeting. Council also decided not to explore automated vehicle identification system enforcement.

The Planning Commission held a meeting on July 23. Highlights from the meeting include:

• The Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed amendments to Section 27, which governs site improvement plans. Section 27 establishes the applicability, approval standards, review process, notice requirements, submittal requirements, and plan content standards for a site improvement plan, which is the document that depicts the design and layout of a building or structure, including site design elements such as building placement, building architecture, parking, walkways, landscaping, and drainage for a specific lot.
  • Proposed changes include removing the approval standards "Furthers public health, safety, and welfare" and "Supports the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan," and replacing them with standards that provide a clearer basis for findings and decisions. The proposed changes also include changing the Planning Commission's consideration of a site improvement plan from a public meeting to a public hearing.
  • A complete list of the proposed changes is available in the staff report included in item 7a of the meeting agenda.
  • The proposed amendments to Section 27 will require a review and decision by the City Council at a public hearing currently scheduled for the August 25 City Council meeting.

The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.

• Approving a professional services agreement with Logan Simpson Design Inc. for the 2026 Comprehensive Plan update.
• Approving a change order to the construction contract with HEI Civil Shared Services, LLC for the Castle Pines Parkway westbound reconstruction project.
• Approving the award of a construction contract to Colorado Designscapes, Inc. for the Phase 1 improvements to Coyote Ridge Park.
• Approving an amendment to the lease agreement between the City and the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District for the lease of the Castle Pines Community Center.
• Approving a change order to the construction contract with Schmidt Construction Company for the 2026 Pavement Maintenance Program.
• A study session to discuss the draft Annexation Policy document. City Council will hold another study session on July 28 to discuss the draft policy.
