Coffee Klatch with Tracy

"Coffee klatch" originates from the German word "kaffeeklatsch" and refers to a gathering of friends over a cup of coffee.

Monarch Boulevard reconstruction is complete! Access to Buffalo Trail opens tomorrow, Friday, November 14.

We are pleased to announce the completion of the Monarch Boulevard reconstruction project! This marks a major milestone in the City's Road Solutions initiative.

All driving lanes on Monarch Boulevard and Buffalo Trail will be open to traffic by tomorrow afternoon (Friday, November 14). In the coming weeks, crews will conduct some minor final tasks, including cleanup activities. Lanes will remain open to traffic during this work. Landscaping installation will be ongoing, as weather permits, and is expected to be completed next year.

This year's project delivered significant infrastructure and safety improvements, including:

  • Construction of the new roundabout at Buffalo Trail and Monarch Boulevard
  • 2,000 feet of roadway improvements along Monarch Boulevard
  • 1,700 feet of new water line installation in partnership with the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District
  • Six-foot bike lanes to enhance multimodal connectivity
  • Stormwater system upgrades and safety enhancements

These improvements create smoother, safer, and more reliable travel for all who live, work, and drive in Castle Pines. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the construction process.

The Castle Pines City Council held a meeting on November 11. Meeting highlights include:

  • Approving an intergovernmental agreement with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District for the design and construction of drainage and flood control improvements for Happy Canyon Creek at Monarch Boulevard.
  • Approving the mutual termination of the City Operations Mill Levy Pledge Agreement with The Canyons Metropolitan District No. 4.
  • Approving a resolution in support of Colorado Gives Day in Douglas County on December 9, 2025.
  • A study session about the 2026 proposed budget.
  • During the meeting, City Council continued the first readings of the following ordinances to the December 9, 2025 City Council meeting to allow for more time to gather information about the petition and potential impacts to the City.
    • Ordinance 25-12, An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Castle Pines, Colorado, Annexing Certain Territory to the City Known as the Crowsnest Annexation on First Reading.
    • Ordinance 25-13, An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Castle Pines, Colorado, Approving an Annexation and Development Agreement for the Crowsnest Annexation on First Reading.

Next steps for the Crowsnest annexation petition process include:

A first reading is the initial review by the Council of the proposal. This step introduces the ordinance so that both the Council and community have time to review it before a later public hearing and a vote by the Council. The December 9 public hearing includes an opportunity for public comment on this item.
  • December 9 Council Meeting and Public Hearing: City Council considers the following:

Gingerbread House Decorating

Step into a magical world of sugary delight at our Gingerbread House Decorating event, perfect for kids and families seeking festive fun!

Each house designer will have 90 minutes to create something sweet to take home and display for the holiday season. Three decorating sessions are available: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Cost is $20 per gingerbread house. One ticket is needed for each house that you would like to decorate.

Centennial Airport seeks public comment on Draft Noise Exposure Map package

Centennial Airport has released its Draft Noise Exposure Map (NEM) package, part of the FAA’s Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study. The document is available for public review and comment through November 30, 2025, at the following locations:

  • Lone Tree Library (10055 Library Way, Lone Tree, CO)

Centennial Airport will hold its third Part 150 Study public open house on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a brief presentation at 5:00 p.m., in the Main Hall at The Lone Tree Hub. The purpose of the meeting is to share and collect feedback on the NEM package before its submittal to the FAA for acceptance.

Anyone interested can stop by at their convenience between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to view display boards with Study information, speak one-on-one with members of the Study Team and Airport staff, and share their ideas, comments, and questions with the Study Team.

The Study is being conducted to identify and evaluate current and future noise and land use compatibility associated with aircraft operations at Centennial Airport. The goal of the Study is to work with surrounding communities and stakeholders to reduce the number of people affected by aircraft noise. Future meetings will focus on the Noise Compatibility Program.

About the Castle Pines Urban Renewal Authority

In May 2023, the Castle Pines City Council approved the creation of an Urban Renewal Authority to help revitalize areas in the city's Business Zone District. This authority is known as the Castle Pines Urban Renewal Authority (CPURA). Visit the CPURA information page for more information.

The urban renewal area generally encompasses the City’s Business Zone District and is intended to allow more flexibility in what commercial property owners can do with their property; allow taxes to be spent on improvements within a targeted area; identify capital improvements needed to accommodate future investment; potentially provide property redevelopment/expansion financial assistance; and, balance growth across the community. Urban renewal will not prevent owners or tenants from continuing a business or land use; raise property tax mill levy or sales tax rate; force owners to improve their property; diminish the value of property; or prevent property owners from selling their property.

2025 Community Survey seeks resident input

The City of Castle Pines is conducting a community survey to better understand residents' thoughts and opinions of City services, programs, priorities, and quality of life aspects. A random sample of residents was invited to take the survey via text message beginning on Tuesday, September 23. The survey is also available to take via the link below. Results of the survey will be available on the City's website later this year and will be shared with the City Council during a study session on Tuesday, November 18.

About the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment

The City of Castle Pines Planning Commission deliberates and makes recommendations to the City Council on land-use applications, proposed long-range policy planning documents, and zoning regulations. The Commission consists of seven residents from various backgrounds who are appointed by the City Council. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane in Castle Pines.

The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.

About the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment

The City of Castle Pines Planning Commission deliberates and makes recommendations to the City Council on land-use applications, proposed long-range policy planning documents, and zoning regulations. The Commission consists of seven residents from various backgrounds who are appointed by the City Council. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane in Castle Pines.

The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.
