The agenda for the February 10 City Council meeting is now available. City Council will conduct interviews with applicants for open seats on the Castle Pines Parks and Recreation Advisory Board beginning at 4:00 p.m. The regular City Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

City Council meetings are held as hybrid meetings, with both virtual and in-person attendance options available. Meetings are held at the Castle Pines Library Event Hall (360 Village Square Lane). Register to attend the meeting virtually.

About City Council Meetings

The regular meetings of the City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane, Event Hall. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings. Anyone who wants to address the Council may do so during the public comment period at the regular meetings of the City Council.  Public comment is limited to three minutes per person.

Study sessions are held, as needed, at 5:30 p.m. on the first, second, and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Study sessions are informational meetings and differ in several ways from the regular City Council meetings. While the City Council may give direction to City staff, no votes are cast, no formal action is taken, and there is no public comment during the study session.

The agenda for the February 3 City Council study session is now available. City Council will conduct interviews with applicants for open seats on the Castle Pines Planning Commission. Selected applicants are scheduled to be appointed during the February 10 City Council meeting.

The Castle Pines City Council held a meeting on January 27. Meeting highlights include:

• Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Municipal Code to add a new Article 9 concerning massage facilities.
• Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Municipal Code to opt out of the firearm prohibitions of Senate Bill 24-131.
• Approving an ordinance to amend the Castle Pines Zoning Ordinance to disallow certain commercial uses, including pawnshops, junk yards, and vape shops, in the business district. The ordinance allows certain uses in the business district, including body art services, while allowing certain uses depending on location and distance from other similar uses, including car washes, payday loans, major vehicle services, and minor vehicle services. This applies only in the business district. The ordinance does not apply to previously approved planned developments that specifically allow the above uses.
• Approving the adoption of City Council policy documents, including City Council Guiding Principles, City Council Procedures and Rules of Order, and City Council and Boards/Commissions Protocols.
• A study session to discuss the 2025 community survey results.
• An update from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
• An update from the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce.

The Commission consists of seven residents from various backgrounds who are appointed by the City Council. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane in Castle Pines.

The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board held a meeting on January 15. Meeting highlights include:

• An update from Hord Coplan Macht on the future Soaring Hawk Park, including early design concepts, phasing options, and cost estimates.
• Approving a recommendation to the City Council for a trail connection between Trail #17 at Coyote Ridge Park and the staircase adjacent to the Monarch Boulevard and Buffalo Trail roundabout.
• The board requested additional landscape design options for the Monarch Boulevard and Buffalo Trail roundabout.
• The trail naming process for public trails in the community was continued to the next meeting due to time constraints.
